Punjab Arts Council in collaboration with Roopak Kala and Welfare Society celebrated International Women's Day with its weekly festival at Kala Bhawan. On the occasion, "Gulbano", a Pakistani Punjabi play, was performed.

Chandigarh: Punjab Arts Council in collaboration with Roopak Kala and Welfare Society celebrated International Women's Day with its weekly festival at Kala Bhawan.
On the occasion, "Gulbano", a Pakistani Punjabi play, was performed.
The play has been directed by Sangeeta Gupta, who has been in the field of theatre for more than 20 years now. The role of male characters were played by women.
The story is based upon circumstances that change the life of lead actress, ‘Gulbano'.

She falls in love with a married man in her teenage and elopes with him. They are not accepted by the society. Eventually she gets deceived by the man and is forcibly married to another man who is 20 years elder than her. Later on, she spent her life alone with the guilt of what she had done in her past. This story is the mixture of emotions, drama and highlights the darker phase the woman is facing.
The end questions the society for being blunt and stubborn for one teenage girl who just slipped off the track once and suffered for her entire life.
The man who deceived her lived happily with his wife and children and did not face any ill will because of the fact of being called "man".
More than 400 people watched the play.
